Grady White
50 Years of "Passionate Perfection"
Grady-White is celebrating 50 years of "Passionate Perfection" during this 2009 model year. Back in 1958, Glenn Grady and Don White founded Grady-White Boats in Greenville, NC and humbly produced coastal Carolinian wooden boats, employing concepts used in larger custom sportfishing boats. Grady-White's founders believed that if they built their boats "tougher than they had to be,", their smaller boats would stand up reliably to coastal waves and weather.
When Eddie Smith, who purchased the company in 1968, first set his eyes on the superior quality of this wooden boat line, he was fully prepared to use his then 26-year-young energy to keep the sound philosophy already in place, and bring Grady-White into fiberglass production.
The young Smith sought out the manufacturing and engineering expertise of Wiley Corbett, and together they made the transition to fiberglass, successfully maintaining Grady-White's reputation for superior quality.
The Grady-White customer, whose input through the years inspired many of the concepts that set these boats apart, is vital to this celebration. Through arranged fishing trips with customers and top fishermen, the center console designs were birthed with all kinds of ingenious features. The Grady-White line was furthered by the production of cuddy cabin models, making Grady-White one of the earliest manufacturers of walk-around cabins. "Built by fishermen" became the company slogan.
Kris Carroll took the industry-coveted position of president of Grady-White Boats in 1993. She had been rising through the ranks of Grady-White since her employment as production control clerk in 1975. During those years she had witnessed firsthand the heady results of approaching boat building with nothing less than perfection in mind. It is obvious that with Eddie Smith's vision and Kris Carroll's management team's execution, Grady-White has satisfied very discriminating boaters, being ranked "Highest Customer Satisfaction With Coastal Fishing Boats" seven times in a row by J.D. Power and Associates, while the National Marine Manufacturer's Association has given Grady their top CSI award seven years running. Much of this can be attributed to the SeaV2 hull, introduced in 1989, bringing the customer the most comfortable offshore ride available in boating. Many great innovations continue today, with unprecedented features being incorporated into models like the 330 Express, the 336 Canyon center console and the largest Grady-White boat to date, the Express 360.
To ensure customer satisfaction, Grady-White established a dealership network committed to customer-driven, high quality products. Caribee Boat Sales has been recognized as offering quality product, superior customer service, and local community commitment for over 60 years in the Florida Keys. We congratulate our partner, Grady-White, for 50 years of excellence, and are proud to offer this customer-oriented boat to our valued Keys customers.
